About NWC Membership

  • Who can join the Norwell Women’s Club (NWC)?

Norwell Women’s Club membership is open to all Norwell residents as well as previous Norwell Women’s Club members who may currently reside in a different city/town or state. Business membership is available to all businesses that operate in Norwell or that serve Norwell residents.

  • What types of NWC memberships are available and what are the associated benefits?

Individual ($40 per year) and Business ($75 per year) are available. Most NWC events are open to members and non-members alike, however only individual and business members can join Member only events (Year End Party, Holiday/Yankee Swap Party), NWC Committees, host events and participate in the distribution of grants and scholarships at fiscal year-end.

Business membership benefits also include logo placement on our website, monthly posts on our Facebook Group Page and participation in NWC business showcase events.

Membership term follows the calendar year January thru December.

Norwell Women’s Club membership is gender neutral.

  • What is the Norwell Women’s Club Mission?

The mission of the Norwell Women’s Club is to support our community through volunteerism and inspiring meaningful engagement with a fun, diverse and welcoming group of women.

  • Where does the money raised by NWC go?

Each year, funds raised by NWC are donated to Norwell resident high school seniors as College scholarships as well as via grants to 501(c)(3) non-profits supporting the Norwell Community.  Details and a list of previous year recipients can be found on our website.

  • How long has the Norwell Women’s Club been around?

The Women’s Club of Norwell was established in 1959 as a philanthropic, educational and social organization.

  • What are the NWC Committees and how can I join one of them?

Specific committees can change year to year depending upon events and activities planned for the year.  A list of all current committees can be found on our website.  https://www.norwellwomensclub.org/committees

  • What types of events and gatherings does NWC host?

NWC hosts Community Events, Fundraisers and Social Events:

  • Community Events:  Mother’s Day Tea at the Norwell Council on Aging, Holiday Luncheon at Norwell Gardens, Holiday on the Common with Santa, Halloween on the Common, Southwood Nursing Home support

  • Fundraisers:  Ladies Night Out, Comedy Night & March Madness Raffle

  • Social Events:  Women’s Night Out and Book Club monthly, September Kick Off Party, Holiday/ Yankee Swap Party, Year End Annual meeting.

NWC events may change year over year based on interest and priority.

A monthly newsletter is also sent to NWC members and a larger email distribution list.  

  • My availability is limited and cannot make a significant time commitment, should I still join?

NWC membership has no time commitment requirements.  You can engage in the events and gatherings based on your interest and availability.   While many of our events occur in the evening, we also offer daytime events as an alternative.   A calendar of events is posted on our website to assist in your planning.  https://www.norwellwomensclub.org/events

  • Can non-members attend Norwell Women’s Club Events?

Yes, at this time mot NWC events are all open to members and non-members and we invite guests to attend, meet our members and learn about our organization.

  • When does my membership lapse?

Starting January 2022, membership will now be based on the calendar year and will cover January 1 through December 31st. 

  • My employer has a Matching Gift program, can NWC donations be eligible?

Depending upon your employers Matching Gift program, your annual membership fee may be eligible for an employer match.   The Norwell Women’s Club Tax ID is Tax ID 043-099132.  Additional monetary donations may also be eligible for an employer match and we can assist in understanding your employer’s matching gifts program.   Some employers also support community volunteerism and provide company paid time off for the employee and we have NWC opportunities for you to use those hours.  Should you wish to put those employer paid volunteer hours to work, please contact us at general@norwellwomensclub.org.

• How can I learn more about NWC Leadership positions? How long must I serve in a leadership role, if chosen?

Current NWC Leadership roles are listed on our website and are a 2 year term commitment.  https://www.norwellwomensclub.org/leadership

  • When do Norwell Women’s Club business oriented meetings occur?

NWC holds meetings in September and June whereby organization business matters are discussed and all members are invited to join.
